Financial literacy is more than understanding money. It is about equipping young people with the knowledge and confidence to make informed financial decisions throughout their lives.

Recognising the importance of developing these skills from an early age, ZB Bank proudly participated in the official launch of the Schools Monetary Policy Challenge, reaffirming its commitment to empowering Zimbabwe’s next generation through financial education.

“Financial literacy equips young people with the knowledge, confidence and discipline needed to make informed decisions and contribute meaningfully to Zimbabwe’s economic future.”

ZB Bank Supports the Schools Monetary Policy Challenge

ZB Bank joined key stakeholders at the official launch of the Schools Monetary Policy Challenge, an initiative spearheaded by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe to deepen financial literacy among learners.

The ZB delegation was led by Christian Ruwuyu, General Manager for Harare and Northern Region, together with his team. Their participation reinforced the Bank’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance financial knowledge and prepare learners to participate confidently in Zimbabwe’s economy.

Understanding Monetary Policy from an Early Age

The Schools Monetary Policy Challenge is designed to help learners develop a clearer understanding of monetary policy, the role of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, and the contribution of financial institutions to economic development.

Through research, presentations, and competition-based learning, students are encouraged to analyse economic developments, think critically, and explore how monetary decisions affect businesses, households, and communities.

ZB Bank Engages Learners and Stakeholders

ZB Bank strengthened its participation through an interactive exhibition stand where the team engaged learners, educators, and other stakeholders.

The team distributed promotional and educational materials, provided information about banking products and services, and held conversations on saving, budgeting, responsible money management, and the role of banking in everyday life.

These interactions created a valuable opportunity for learners to ask questions, improve their financial awareness, and connect classroom learning with practical financial experiences.

Building a Financially Empowered Generation

ZB Bank recognises that investing in financial literacy is an investment in Zimbabwe’s future. When young people understand how money, banking, interest rates, inflation, and economic policy work, they are better prepared to make responsible financial decisions.

Financial education can also inspire entrepreneurship, encourage disciplined saving, improve household financial management, and promote greater participation in the formal financial system.

Through its participation in the Schools Monetary Policy Challenge, ZB Bank continues to champion programmes that promote lifelong learning, financial inclusion, and community empowerment.

Our Commitment

ZB Bank remains committed to working with Government, regulators, schools, communities, and other stakeholders to expand financial education and inspire a generation of financially knowledgeable and economically empowered citizens.
